About me

I’m a researcher and lecturer at the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (OST), at the Institute for Modelling and Simulation. There, too, I work on real-world planning problems: messy, multi-layered and rarely backed by the data you’d hope for.

Such tasks are usually handled with a clever spreadsheet or by someone with lots of experience and a great gut feeling. That can get you a long way, but it’s time-consuming, and you rarely get the best possible result. And at some point, these approaches simply stop working. That’s where I come in: with well-thought-out but pragmatic solutions for people and companies who need good answers, even at the push of a button.

What I do

How I work

I start by looking at how planning is done today: What gets decided, and by whom? What data is there? And where does it hurt most? Then I build a first model, test solutions and keep refining it until it captures what really matters. In the end, you get a report with clear recommendations or a tool that works in day-to-day operations.
